Our Story
Artel Ltd. was founded in 1961 and is based in Bari, Italy, at 25 San Giorgio Street. We have been involved in video production and broadcasting for over 60 years. Our experience in the field began back in 1983 thanks to our collaboration with Rai Nazionale and Rai Tgr Puglia. In those years we took our first steps in the world of production, initially specializing with ENG crews and soon establishing ourselves with the first live broadcasts through radio links and the medium of pentacamera direction. As time went by, we never stopped innovating, moving from analog technologies (Betacam, etc.) to the latest 4K digital technologies.
We have collaborated and collaborate with major national broadcasters such as Rai and Mediaset, and international broadcasters such as ZDF. Our experience has seen us involved in major events ranging from entertainment, sports, news and politics. We have made corporate commercials, including by way of example a recent one for Banca Intesa concerning a crowdfunding project, and we have an active collaboration with Porsche Italia.
On behalf of Rai, we have worked on numerous programs and TGs, including the operas “Prima della Prima,” recording trials with “Un Giorno in Pretura,” and various columns such as “Tg2 Motori” and “Easy Driver.” We have not limited ourselves to the production of TV programs: we have also excelled in the production of 4K documentaries such as “Sapiens,” “Blue Line” and “Green Line,” and sports filming of soccer, swimming, karting, and tennis.
Just to name a few examples, we have participated in major news and institutional events, including the L’Aquila earthquake, the G8 in L’Aquila, the Avetrana case, the Norman Atlantic shipwreck in Brindisi, and the G7 in Taormina, where we broadcast live images of the arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plane from the Sigonella base and his press conference. The last G20 in Bari was handled entirely by Artel for international direction, with a 4-camera and radio camera setup.
These successes have been made possible by our highly qualified staff, with more than 30 years of experience in the field.
In 2012 we embarked on a path of technological innovation, starting a research and development project in the field of aerial filming. We tested 2-axis drones and helicopters with micro-cameras, moving on to devices such as the Parrot AR Drone. Later we were able to build and test an S800 EVO, a DJI clone, with Vrbrain electronics and open source Arducopter software. We used SLRs and GoPro Hero 3 Black, and then evolved to more and more sophisticated drones, including the new DJI Mavic and FPV drones, even integrating the use of 3D printers. With over 13 years of experience in drones, we can proudly say that we have pioneered the adoption of technologies such as Ardupilot, Arducopter, DJI Wookong, and DJI Naza.
Our company is constantly evolving. Today, thanks to our dedicated research and development department, we are able to find new technological solutions to meet the challenges of the future. Our team of certified pilots and technical experts in electronics is ready to solve any problems and ensure the highest quality in aerial shooting operations.
In recent years, Artel Ltd. has expanded its offerings by integrating digital services such as website creation and professional social media management. Thanks to our audiovisual experience, we are able to create high-quality photo and video content, develop modern and functional websites, and take care of our clients’ online communication with targeted and effective strategies.
At Artel Ltd. innovation has always been part of the company culture, and with this principle we continue to look forward, with the belief that technology can serve creativity and quality.
